Morphology:-
* skin is slippery due to mucus
* Never drink water ( absorb it from skin)
* Body divided into Head and Trunk
* Eyes have nictiating membrane which protect eyes from water.
* Having Hind Limbs (5 digits)
* Having Fore Limbs (4 digits)
* Male frog has sound producing vocal sacs and copulatory pads on first digit of fore limb.
* Having webbed feets which helps in swimming.
Anatomy:- ((similar to human to some extent))
** Digestive system:- Alimentary canal and digestive glands. Alimentary canal is short because frogs are carnivores
** Tongue is bilobed
** Respiration:- On land - by buccal cavity, skin and lungs (pulmonary respiration).
In water - by skin called cutaneous respiration
** During Hibernation and Aestivation, respiration takes place by skin.
** 3 chambered heart- 2 atria and 1 ventricle
** sinus venosus is triangular structure that join to right atrium
** Ventricle open in conus arteriosus
** they are ureotelic (excrete urea)
** 10 pair of cranial nerves arise from brain.
** Ear is represented by Tympanum
** Vasa Efferentia are 10-12 in number
** External Fertilization
** Females can lay 2500-3000 ova at a time.
** Larva is Tadpole
** Larva undergoes metamorphosis to form adult.
** Cloaca is a common chamber for alimentary canal, Urinary bladder and Reproductive tract.
